Don't Use or Let Others Use Internet Explorer
It is a lot like when the patient asks the doctor:
“Doc, it hurts when I do this.”
The doctor replies:
“Then don’t do that.”
All the time people say, “my site doesn’t look right in IE”. Then “DO NOT USE Internet Explorer!”.
The solution is so simple it is painfully confusing as to why people insist on using IE in the first place when there are other browsers that are better in all ways.
If you are naggin your developer about styling issues in IE you must understand, that anyone using IE will have a degraded Internet experience on every website they visit. There are many websites that will not function properly in IE (and/or function differently depending on which version of IE you use).
So why on earth would anyone use it? - I dunno! :o
You wouldn’t insist on using a broken tooth brush that cost the same as a working one. You wouldn't buy a Geo Metro, when there was a Lamborgini for the same price.
Same with browsers. IE is a terrible product and costs $0.00. Firefox, Chrome, and Safari are vastly superior and also costs $0.00. Do the smart thing and stop using a product that sucks.
But of course - when you educate people on this you'll naturally hear “The majority of Internet users use IE”.
Uhhhh.... No They Don’t!
Don’t take my word for it, check out w3 schools.
You typically find this opinion with individuals in network environments in corporations, because their company made a poor decision early on to use Microsoft networking solutions. Therefore IE is REQUIRED or else their employees can’t use certain programs. Furthermore, most corporate network environments won’t allow the download of the better browsers... kind of by design on the part of Microsoft - imagine that.
The more we stop using this, the less a problem it becomes. If you want to continue using it then get used to it being a problem.
What can I say! DO NOT USE IE!
